We don’t know where dreams come from but, from experience, we know their purpose. They show us the next possible step in our developing consciousness. They warn us if we are going astray, encourage us if we need it, and offer penetrating insights into our confusion. To interpret dreams we need to integrate different ways of knowing: we have to be disciplined and logical but also emotional and feeling; we have to use creative intuition and we have to use our body and its sensations. Each interpretation is like a miniature individuation journey: we have to enter the dream world (“not knowing” and tolerating the anxiety of that), immerse ourselves in the images and their associations, before we use ego skills to make sense of the dream. Then we have to return to our day-time life and try to integrate new-found insights there.

This class is fun. Expect to participate actively. We combine our insights and feel success when the class as a whole recognizes an answer and feels a deepening of consciousness.

Each evening is like a detective story. We interpret knowing only the dreamer’s age and gender. When finished, we compare our interpretation with other information about the dreamer. This checks the validity of the technique.

This class is equally suitable for newcomers to dream analysis and people who have been in analysis or taken other classes. We will not work with class members’ dreams. Please bring a dream, with permission, from a family member or a friend.

How do I participate?

Instructions for entering class.

Normal Zoom class. You will receive a link in an email from the Foundation.

Please refer to the readings and read as much as you can before the first class.

Please email a dream,   BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS, to the instructor, from a consenting friend or relative. If possible ask the dreamer for his or her associations to the main images and note these down.
